Overview
In this world, the best ideas can be formulated, the finest projects can be presented for the well-being of humanity, and the best laws can be established to govern nations. However, if there are no practical examples of all these things, then in the history of the world, such ideas, projects, and laws would be meaningless. It is in human nature to seek the ideal. Wherever practical examples are found, there lies its thirst. This nature of humanity has been created by the Creator of the universe. Who else can be more acquainted with human nature than the One who created it? This Creator has not only sent guidance for humans but with every guidance, He has chosen individuals among humans to stand as practical examples of that guidance. These individuals are known by the names of prophets and messenger. They are the ones whose emulation and following constitute the acension of humanity. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ فَبِهُدَىٰهُمُ ٱقْتَدِهْ ‘Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, so from their guidance take an example.’ (Al-An’am: 90)
The chain of prophets and messengers concludes with Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). No prophet or messenger will come until the Day of Judgment. He is the Seal of the Prophets. مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَآ أَحَدٍۢ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن رَّسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًۭا ‘Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.‘لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌۭ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَ وَذَكَرَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا ‘Indeed, for you, in the Messenger of Allah, is the best model, for everyone who hopes in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah abundantly’. (Al-Ahzab: 21) Every success and prosperity is connected to the blessed personality of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
‘So today [the disbelievers] have no share in the mercy [of Allah].’ Those who follow the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel. He enjoins upon them what is right and forbids them what is wrong. He makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil. He relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them.’ Therefore, those who believe in him, support him, and follow the light that has been sent down with him are the ones who will attain success’. (Al-A’raf: 157)
Muslims are devoted to following the leadership of the Messenger of Allah, but still, they face challenges worldwide. The claim of being followers of the Prophet cannot be accompanied by disgrace and humiliation. We must understand that we are not truly following the Messenger of Allah. We need to extract ourselves from the mire of disgrace and humiliation and establish a real and emotional connection with the Prophet.
The stability of love and obedience will engage us in the mission of prophethood. This movement and activism will be the herald of a revolution. As a result, where the people of faith regain their lost status, they will become beacons of guidance for humanity, establishing a lighthouse of peace and justice for the world. Let us pledge to revisit the forgotten lessons of the Prophet’s example.
Even a surface-level understanding Muslim is aware that the honorable persona of the Prophet is targeted by enemies of Islam. There is a significant number of objections to his teachings at the educational level as well. Educated individuals face these objections at all levels, but most of the time, they lack adequate responses. Sometimes, they succumb to the objections of the enemies and adopt a negative stance.
We see that even among Muslims, some suggest that the life of the Prophet in Mecca should be emulated, not the Medina life. Some individuals present strange interpretations of the Prophet’s battles, limiting Jihad only to the Arabian Peninsula. They use the Constitution of Medina and the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah as evidence for peace and a secular state. The purpose is to present the life of the Prophet in such a way that it pleases the enemies of Islam. Through this course, we aim to address these objections and strive to bring the student to a point where, in their view, the life of the Prophet stands historically, practically, comprehensively, and perfectly. They should be in a position to prove it through their own words and deeds.
