Overview
A Guided Tarbiyah Journey for Inner Reform, Spiritual Discipline, and Islamic Personality Development
There are moments in a person’s life when he realizes that his greatest struggle is not outside him, but within him. The weakness of will, the heaviness of repeated mistakes, the loss of spiritual taste, the lack of discipline, the instability of emotions, and the distance between what a person knows and what he actually lives — all of these are signs that the heart is in need of care, direction, and cure.
Islam does not treat the human being only through outward actions. It reforms the heart, purifies the soul, strengthens character, and gives a believer the clarity to live with purpose. A person whose heart is sound becomes stronger in worship, more disciplined in life, more stable in character, and more capable of fulfilling both his religious and worldly responsibilities.
With this vision, Hikam Institute is pleased to introduce The Cure of the Heart, an exclusive Tarbiyah program designed for those who seek serious inner reform, spiritual growth, and the development of a strong Islamic personality.
About the Course:
This program is not a general lecture series, nor is it merely a reading of a classical text. It is a guided journey of Tarbiyah under the supervision of the Sheikh, where students will be taken through essential themes related to the heart, īmān, discipline, repentance, emotional stability, self-control, and purposeful living.
The aim is to help students understand themselves through the light of Islamic knowledge: to recognize the roots of weakness, to understand how sins affect the heart and behavior, to revive the spirit of tawbah and du‘ā’, and to build the inner strength required for a life of faith, dignity, responsibility, and purpose.
The sessions will be delivered in clear and relatable language, connecting classical Islamic wisdom with the real struggles of modern life. The goal is not only to learn, but to transform.
What This Program Seeks to Build:
Through this journey, students will work toward strengthening their īmān, purifying their hearts, developing self-discipline, improving emotional stability, and building a mature Islamic personality rooted in sincerity, responsibility, and purpose.
The program will address essential themes such as:
- The reality of the heart and its spiritual condition
- The effect of sins on personality, worship, and life direction
- Tawbah, du‘ā’, and the path of returning to Allah
- Discipline over desires, habits, and emotions
- Building consistency in worship and personal conduct
- Developing a strong Islamic character for Dīn and Dunyā
- Living with clarity, purpose, and inner strength
Final Invitation:
The heart is the center of a person’s life. When it is neglected, everything becomes scattered. When it is purified, guided, and strengthened, the entire personality begins to change.
The Cure of the Heart is an invitation to begin that transformation: to return to Allah, to understand the self, to discipline the soul, and to build a life shaped by īmān, character, and purpose.
May Allah purify our hearts, strengthen our resolve, and grant us beneficial knowledge that transforms our lives.
Curriculum
The Scholarly Foundation:
At the heart of this program lies the wisdom of Imam Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله, one of the great scholars of Islam and among the most profound writers on the purification of the soul, the diseases of the heart, repentance, and spiritual reform. His masterpiece Al-Dā’ wa al-Dawā’ offers deep insight into the inner condition of the human being and the path by which the heart returns to Allah.
This course draws from the meanings, principles, and spiritual diagnoses found in this work, while presenting them as part of a broader Tarbiyah framework. The text will serve as a foundation, but the program will focus on practical understanding, guided reflection, and personal application in the life of the student.
